First football practice

Yesterday I had my first football practice.  In my first football practice we started off with a warm-up.  We did warm-ups for one 1:00 of our 1:30.  We did: jogging, high-knees, side shuffling, butt kicks, slants, broad jump, burpees, and sprints.  After that we split up into four groups.  I started off on the blocking drill, which wasn’t very fun.  All we did was practice blocking people.  After that I did the throwing and catching drill.  We threw the ball around and caught it.  After that we did a shuffling foot work drill.  One person was the bunny.  So the bunny ran however it wanted and the other person would have to follow him.  After that was we did a back pedaling drill which was really easy.  After that we did exercises, like burpees, squats, and jogging.  After that we did our of practice speech and then we were done.  So all of the drills we did were simple.

Track and Field Tryouts

At my school, track tryouts have started.  So far there have been 2 tryouts.  For both of the tryouts we have been inside, in a gym.  In the first tryout we started off by learning the A’s, the walking A’s, the skipping A’s, and the running A’s.  Then after we learned all of them we did warm ups around the gym.  We did all of the A’s, we also did high knees, butt kicks, karaoke, and side shuffle.  After we did the warm ups, which they took a long time since there’s a lot of grade 5 and 6’s, we got into groups of four. Two girls and two boys made each group.  We did sprints so one of the boys started and ran to the other side and high fived one of the girls.  Then the girl would run to the other side and high five the second boy.  We did this for 5 minutes straight without stopping.  After we did that for five minutes we did stretching.  We did a lot of different stretches.  We did the stretches for a long time.  After that we did 2 laps around the gym and then our first tryout was done.  For are second tryout we used an app called Swirk It for the whole time.  So one of the coaches attached there phone to the projector and put on Swirk It.  We did 20 minutes for lower body work out and we did 10 minutes for upper body and core each.  Then we did 5 laps around the gym and we were done.  After both of the practices my legs were sore.  But after the second tryout my legs weren’t as sore as they were after the first tryout.

Last year I did the 400 meter, the 800 meter, and the relay.
